TAYTE NICKOLS
PRODUCER. SONGWRITER. ARTIST DEVELOPER.
Tayte Nickols is a London-based music producer and songwriter working with emerging and independent artists. Cinematic, raw and rooted in story, his approach starts with the song and the person behind it.
“Watching Tayte work with such precision and care is a powerful reminder of why I no longer take on production myself. His talent and dedication set a high standard.”
Tayte began as a performing musician before moving into recording and production. He developed his work at Mad Fox Studios in Manchester, collaborating with artists including Alex Spencer, Finn Forster and Jack Critchlow.
In 2024, the Music Producers Guild named him Breakthrough Producer of the Year. In 2025, he was shortlisted for MPG Writer-Producer of the Year.
“What makes Tayte Nickols stand out isn’t just his technical ability or his stylish spaces. It’s his blend of irreverence, taste, and emotional intelligence — a modern producer with an old-school sense of purpose.”
Tayte’s work spans production, songwriting and creative development, with credits including Pale Waves, Prestyn Smith and Jack Harris. Explore the full credits archive for the exact roles on each released track, or read artist stories and testimonials.
A creative partner for the whole record
Art first. Ego last. Tayte brings writing, musicianship, recording and production into a collaborative process that keeps the artist’s voice at its centre. The aim is to make confident creative choices and capture performances that feel real.
For a single, that can mean developing an early idea into a finished track. For an EP or album, it means finding the connections between songs and building a cohesive body of work. Wider conversations about visual direction and release planning can form part of artist development, with the scope agreed around the project.
London sessions and residential recording
Tayte works at Mad Fox London in Hampstead and Willow Lake Studios in the Lake District. Mad Fox offers a London base for writing and recording; Willow Lake provides an off-grid, solar-powered setting for longer residential projects.
