Who

Tayte Nickols is not just producing music — he’s shaping the future of artistry

Tayte cares about the art, not the polish. His work is fuelled by story and emotion, and he’ll go anywhere a church, a burned-out house, a field at midnight to find the feeling that makes a record real.

Watching Tayte work with such precision and care is a powerful reminder of why I no longer take on production myself. His talent and dedication set a high standard.
— Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Roxy Music)

His journey began on the other side of the glass as a performing musician before transitioning into production. Tayte refined his skills in a modest studio in a small Liverpool town, laying the foundation for his distinct sonic identity — cinematic, raw, and rooted in storytelling.

By 23, Tayte launched Mad Fox Studios in Manchester, becoming one of the youngest commercial studio owners in the North West. From this creative hub, he helped develop the sound of a new generation of emerging artists including Alex Spencer, Finn Forster, and Jack Critchlow. Tracks produced at Mad Fox earned BBC Radio 1’s Track of the Week, achieved five No.1 positions on the iTunes charts, and landed on key Spotify editorial playlists — cementing Tayte’s status as a driving force in grassroots music.

Crowned Breakthrough Producer of the Year at the 2024 MPG Awards and shortlisted for Writer/Producer of the Year the following year, Tayte has rapidly become one of the most exciting and in-demand names in UK music. At just 28, he has built a career defined by bold vision, unrelenting dedication, and a rare ability to balance technical mastery with emotional depth.

What makes Tayte Nickols stand out isn’t just his technical ability or his stylish spaces. It’s his blend of irreverence, taste, and emotional intelligence — a modern producer with an old-school sense of purpose.

Since then, he has gone on to work with a wide range of breakout talent — including Pale Waves, Preston Smith, and Jack Harris — providing everything from production and songwriting to release strategy, visual direction, and full creative development. Known for his controversial productions, no-nonsense attitude, and uncompromising creative instinct, Tayte takes an art-first, artist-last approach — prioritising the integrity of the record above everything and pushing artists beyond their limits to reach the truest version of their story.

Known as a one-stop creative partner and a safe haven for new talent, Tayte writes, records, performs, and produces most of his projects single-handedly — giving artists world-class results without the overhead of traditional session workflows.

Today, Tayte works between two flagship spaces: Willow Lake — his pioneering off-grid, solar-powered studio on a 20-acre farm in the Lake District — and a multi-room studio in Hampstead, London. He is also a frequent collaborator in top-tier studios such as Abbey Road, Strongroom, RAK, and Metropolis, and has worked internationally in Los Angeles, New York, Berlin, and Belgrade.

Beyond the studio, Tayte is a strategic creative force — guiding artists through smart release rollouts, social media engagement, and long-term brand building. His work isn’t about quick wins; it’s about creating lasting impact and building real careers.

With multiple chart-topping records, an infamous MPG Award win, and a Writer/Producer of the Year nomination, Tayte Nickols is entering a new chapter of global influence. Still rooted in the values that launched his career — collaboration, craft, and integrity — he remains one of the world’s most exciting creative forces in modern music.
